Open Shop in Nahalat Shiva, Jerusalem (1976–1977)
In 1976–1977, I ran a vintage shop—back then simply called a second-hand store—together with my partner, Shulamit Noy. The shop was located in the heart of Nahalat Shiva in Jerusalem, just above the well-known Chocolate Soup café, which was a popular landmark at the time.
Our collection came from old haberdasheries, clothing stores, and shoe shops that had been around for decades. We gathered unique items with character and history, giving them a new life and a new audience. The atmosphere was bohemian, young, distinctly Jerusalem, and full of people who appreciated the charm of “old made new,” long before vintage became a trend.
חנות פתוחה – נחלת שבעה, ירושלים (1976–1977)
בשנים 1976–1977 ניהלתי יחד עם שותפתי, שולמית נוי, חנות וינטג’ — שבאותה תקופה קראו לה פשוט חנות יד שנייה. החנות שכנה בלב נחלת שבעה בירושלים, ממש מעל ה־Chocolate Soup המיתולוגי, שהיה אז מוקד עלייה לרגל.
האוספים בחנות נבנו מפריטים שאספנו מחנויות סדקית, ביגוד ונעליים ותיקות במיוחד — כאלה שנשאו איתן שנים של היסטוריה. ליקטנו פריטים נדירים ומלאי אופי, ומצאנו להם בית חדש אצל מי שידעו להעריך ייחוד ואותנטיות. האווירה הייתה בוהמיינית, ירושלמית מאוד, ברוח של יצירה והתחדשות — הרבה לפני שהמילה "וינטג'" הפכה לטרנד.
